Welcome to the Department of Languages, 文学, and 大众传播. Our department invites students to immerse themselves in language and critical thinking. You'll discuss challenging literary texts, learn a new language or two, write engaging and insightful stories and poems, and share your ideas using video, 广播, TV, 和打印. At our core, we believe in the power of language to teach, amuse, move, and inspire.
We sometimes forget that a degree that focuses on language means you will acquire a set of skills and abilities that prepare you for more than the familiar humanities-oriented careers. You will learn to organize ideas, assert and defend claims, and research. Employers will value your ability to solve problems and present ideas in effective language in a variety of modes to a wide range of audiences. You will think critically, having learned to weigh evidence, identify assumptions, evaluate persuasive appeals, and recognize faulty reasoning. Employers want smart, 灵活的, and creative employees, all hallmarks of a Colorado Mesa University graduate in Languages, 文学, and 大众传播.
